Not Just Databases

Ontology Works moves beyond providing the modeling environment and ontology-based deductive repositories. We are providing new products based on our capabilities. Among these are:

• Semantic Federation of legacy databases. A need of enterprises from medium-sized to global is the ability to query their disparate information resources as if they were one coherent enterprise resource. Traditional approaches to database federation prove impracticable because of steeply rising costs with the addition of each new database. Our approach keeps the cost curve low and flat. The result is a semantically richer information resource that can handle more complex (interesting) queries and return high value answers. This is our KFS or Knowledge Federation Server that will be productized in early 2008.
• Enterprise Mission Management (EMM) is a solution that gives the global distributed enterprise situational awareness of its distributed technical resources and how these resources interact even when degraded.
• “Trigger Systems.” We offer configurations of our deductive systems that allow standing queries, often of considerable complexity, to “answer” and therefore “trigger” when data comes in that meets the query. Such a capability is important to many kinds of Indications and Warnings systems.
